Nine Inch Nails “The Downward Spiral” turned 30! Released in 1994 the anthem for the sad angry youths of the day. We wore black, fishnets, our hair was black, black make up. We wore combat boots too. It was a legendary album. This was also a request for this week!!

Welcome back to another #SakuraUnderground! This was recorded at the Valley Free Radio Studios on Feb 25th. DJ Silent was in a celebrating mood for he selected 3 songs from Liars Mess album which is 10 years old this month! Liars a three piece band focusing mostly on vintage synthesizers to make their music as undanceable electronic music ever.
DJ Silent was also missing some dance music so he moved on to Australian project Snog for a few songs, we also had a flashback to a Combichrist and Front 242 era of STOMP too. This era is around the end of the 90s mostly. STOMP is another name for Industrial Dance Metal.
Finishing off the night was some music from Japan by DJ Sakura666!! Crossfaith and Travis Japan. 2 bands, 2 totally different genres, Crossfaith had broken up, but now they have returned. Travis Japan; upcoming JPOP who have starred in AGT recently, and have performed in a few Japanese/American festivals.
Well, that’s it for this #SakuraUnderground. We try to make new content once a week before #IHEARTJROCK at the VFR studios. SU plays a large variety of music from all over, each podcast a little over an hour.

Welcome back to Sakura Underground. This was recorded in the Valley Free Radio studios on Feb 3rd 2024.
Playlist below!
We started with a block from DJ Silent who picked 3 Skinny Puppy songs from their 1996 album “The Process” DJ Silent believes this is the last truly good SP album, because it had all 3 of the members recording on it. Sadly Dwayne Goettel passed in 1995 towards the end of recording this album. There were a lot of slack and problems with the record company and the band in the making of this album also. Hardset Head Process Blue Serge
Moving on to new music from Cyberaktif, and a fun request from our listener for new music by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth A Single Trace BYE BYE
DJ Silent continues on with a long track by Meat Beat Manifesto, released in 1990 from the 99% album. A pinging non stop dance track. Pinging because of the pinging noise all throughout. Can you count the pings? DogStar Man/Helter Skelter
Continuing with Meat Beat Manifesto, and DJ Sakura666 added some tracks to go with the block. Meg Lee Chin is an inspirational noisey girl rock and alternative music writer, producer, also very underrated from the 1990s. Also Portishead, a nice piece from the 90s and classic Massive Attack track, both seem to have appeared in movies in time. She’s Unreal Swallowing You Glory Box Angel
Noticed that The Chemical Brothers did a live gig in Japan recently so we had to play Chemical Beats
Lastly, you requested Number_I and NOA some JPOP to finish the night! GOAT Any Angle
Thanks for returning to another #SakuraUnderground. This podcast we play a couple tracks from The Soft Moon and a track from Silent Servant. Luis Vasquez and Juan Mendez were found together in an LA apartment with a third person Simone Ling(Juan’s spouse).
Echo & the Bunnymen Killing Moon is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary and DJ Silent had to play his favorite Echo song as well to add to the block. Then DJ Silent added Love and Rockets Ball of Confusion and Yin and Yang. PIG and KMFDM have a new track worth listening to and DJ Silent adds Godlike to reminisce over.
Welcome back to another #SakuraUnderground. This episode was recorded in the Valley Free Radio Studios on Jan 13th 2024. This special SU we are celebrating DJ Silent’s birthday along with birthdays from front man of German industrial band Einsturzende Neubauten, Blixa Bargeld (born Christian Emmerich, 12 January 1959). He also shares the same birthday as DJ Silent(who is born Martin Page)! One short and sweet song for the legendary Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin who turned 80 this year. Finally the iconic David Bowie whom was born on Jan 8th, and sadly passed on Jan 10th. Playing a small block of our favorite songs by the musician.
We also had some requests for #SakuraUnderground thanks to the new updated request page on request page. Feel free to leave a request by clicking the link below.
Welcome back to #SakuraUnderground. This is the last episode of 2023! It was recorded 12-30-23 at the Valley Free Radio studios USA.

Welcome back to another #SakuraUnderground. This episode was recorded live at the Valley Free Radio studios in Northampton MA USA.
This special #SU is to pay tribute to a band who decided to finally call it quit after “41 years” according to DJ Silent. XD It is true; after their final live performance, they are moving onto to solo projects, and other projects to focus on. Skinny Puppy’s last performance in Boston was on the 23rd of April, sadly the DJs did not get to attend. DJ Sakura did get to see them perform in Worcester back in the day, and DJ Silent saw them quiet a few times when “he was a kid”.
Both DJs picked older tracks from the band, also there were songs from Download, a cevin Key side project, and a new track from another project he was also working on with members of Front Line Assembly.
Also played an older track from Nivek Ogre project ‘Oghr’ a lovely wall of synthesized noise. Kevin, his Christian name, spends a lot of time working in front of the camera as an actor these days. Without the blood?? not so sure..
Lastly a request for a really old song by Ministry, from the album ‘With Sympathy’ The band will be performing this album along with tracks from “Twitch” at the “Cruel World Fest in California in 2024.
Thanks for listening to this podcast for #SakuraUnderground. If you are unaware of who Skinny Puppy are, please visit their homepage for more information about the band. They are from Canada and were a very underrated rock band from the 80s through 2000. They were known for their crazy live performances with blood and other disgusting things to make their image stain your mind! https://skinnypuppy.com/

Welcome back to another #SakuraUnderground! This episode was recorded at the Valley Free Radio studios on Dec 2nd 2023. This week DJ Silent plays the most Killing Joke ever! Also a request for Jesus Jones. Thanks for the request! Playlist below.
Sadly one of the members of Killing Joke had passed away due to a stroke on Nov 26th. Kevin “Geordie” Walker, born 1958 Chester-Le-Street England, and died in Prague. He was an influential guitarist known for his unique styles and techniques. He helped start the band Killing Joke and also was in a few post industrial noise projects like Murder Inc, The Damage Manual, he was in Zilch along with Jaz Coleman and Pigface too. Many musicians mentioned his passing on social media.
Both DJ Silent and DJ Sakura666 saw Killing Joke perform in Boston MA back in 2018. Jaz walked around the crowd during the opening band PIG. It was a great performance.
Taken too soon, and will be greatly missed.

Welcome back to #SakuraUnderground. This is special episode was recorded 11/18/23 in the Valley Free Radio studios.
DJ Silent is celebrating the album “The Scream” which is the first album from Siouxsie and the Banshees and it was also released back in 1978. It is a goth rock masterpiece in which DJ Silent believes is very underrated.
DJ Silent then moves on the Mute Records and plays a few tracks from some of the artists on this label. This is a British electronic label that was also founded in the year 1978, by Daniel Miller.
Also playing a new remix that was released. “Hamburger Lady” from Throbbing Gristle was remixed by the last of the surviving members, Chris Carter and Cosey Tutti, also known as Chris and Cosey or Carter Tutti these days. Each way of this track is terrifying and leaves you feeling uneasy. Hamburger Lady has been played on #iheartjrock Halloween special a few years back.
We had a request for Alice In Chains “Them Bones” classic grunge anthem!
And after seeing this TIK TOK we had to play “Californication” from Red Hot Chili Peppers
Coming back at the end of the show, DJ Silent had a last minute request for Die Antwoord’s “Fatty Boom Boom” and ending the night with new Duran Duran covering “Paint It Black”
