If you’re a fan of #iheartjrock, then you know about Oblivion Dust, a Japanese #jrock #jpop band. We first heard about them from a friend who said, “If you like VAMPS, you’ll like Oblivion Dust. K.A.Z is the guitarist, and Ken Lloyd has a great voice.” This was around the time their E.P. DIRT was released. We bought it the day it came out and listened to it nonstop—in the car, at the gym—it was so much fun! The lyrics are great, and the music is awesome, but it was pretty short. And it was a long time before something new came out.
We were so surprised and happy to see that Oblivion Dust released a new song! They seem to be recording new music, even after the release of new music last year!
“Swarm” by Oblivion Dust starts with a powerful chord of synths that creates a wall of noise. Then there’s a break with silence and ambiance before Ken makes his entrance. Ken’s vocals are haunting and wailing, and he cries out with so much emotion in just a few words. “Swarm” is very dark and haunting, and it’s one of our favorite Oblivion Dust songs in a long time. There is also a reload sample of a gun. Never heard that before in an Oblivion Dust song!
Oblivion Dust just completed a tour in Japan and announced they will be returning to the stage at the end of 2024. Hope to see them!!
These are the lyrics we could find for “Swarm.” They seem pretty accurate. The lyrics are very powerful and heartfelt. We think the song is about us, but it probably has a deeper meaning that we’d like to learn more about. If you have a translation, please let us know.

This was #OblivionDust’s previous release. A very happy sad song, not as dark and noisy, but it does have a retro vibe to it.
