Welcome back to #SakuraUnderground. This was recorded in the Valley Free Radio studios on July 27th. We mostly celebrated Martin L. Gore, his birthday was July 23rd. He is 62 years old. He is the main song writer in Depeche Mode, he has a solo albums that are mostly cover songs. He also worked with Vince Clark. Vince was the original writer of Depeche Mode songs. Before he left, he moved onto Yazoo. We ended the night with a #request! Thanks for the #request! We are not rating these tracks on this page.

Martin Gore Compulsion

A song about a person who is driven by a need to do something, even if it’s bad for them. The song is written in a minor key, which gives it a dark and brooding feel. Originally written by Joe Crow.

Depeche Mode A Pain That I’m Used To

DJ Sakura selected this song. It has long synths, a great chorus, and it rocks. From the bands 2005 album “Playing the angel” A song about the pain and abuse from daily life. Or maybe it’s an imagination. You can really feel it in the loud synth, it’s unstable and unnerving.

Depeche Mode Useless

Another track DJ Sakura picked. This one is off their 1997 album Ultra. Again pain and torture but this is real and it’s about defeat and moving on and saying f* you. The guitar solo towards the end is just punching.

Depeche Mode People Are People

Last track from DJ Sakura, the song that put them on the map. This song was on the radio all the time.  It was the band’s first top-20 single in the United States, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Dave Gahan, not a fan, well.. all we can say is People are People. DJ Sakura loves it tho.

Depeche Mode Behind The Wheel

DJ Silent is up next with his selections. Behind the Wheel is the most beautiful video ever. Both DJs agree that Anton Corbin is the 5th member of Depeche Mode. This was released in 1987 and it is from the album “Music for the Masses” As DJ Silent called it a part of “Trilogy of Brilliance”

Depeche Mode Neve Let Me Down Again

Another track from the album “Music for the Masses.” DJ Silent selected this song because of its iconic moment in 101. The song is a continuation of Behind the Wheel and again the original video is directed by Anton Corbin. So it has great retro and French feels.

Depeche Mode I Feel You

DJ Silent, loves this song. This is one of his favorites that was released after the “Trilogy of Brilliance”. “Songs of Faith and Devotion” came out in 1993. DJ Sakura also states that it was one of here favorites since childhood. ahh the 90s

VCMG Spock

DJ Silent thought it would be nice to play a track from VCMG. VCMG is Vince Clark and Martin Gore doing electronics. As mentioned before, Vince Clark was an original member of Depeche Mode. He has since moved on to other projects, like Yazoo and Erasure.

Kim Deal Coast

Lastly we have a #request for Kim Deal new song Coast. It’s a catchy, indie-rock track with a nostalgic undertone. Inspired by a wedding band’s cover of Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville,” the song explores themes of coastal life. The song also reflects on the passage of time.
