Remembering Reita: A Tribute to a Rock Legend
Reita, born Ryo Akira Suzuki, was more than just a musician. He was a driving force behind the GazettE’s meteoric rise, captivating audiences with their unique visual kei style and uncompromising heavy rock sound. From the moment he stepped on stage, his charisma and passion ignited a fire that burned brightly for decades.
Reita’s trademark facial coverings—ranging from bandanas to striking leather masks—became iconic within the Jrock community. His stage presence was magnetic, drawing fans into a world where music transcended boundaries. We remember the adrenaline-fueled concerts, the pounding basslines that reverberated through our souls, and the way Reita’s fingers danced across the strings, weaving magic.
As fellow artists and fans, we mourn the loss of a true legend. Reita’s impact extended far beyond the stage. He was the spark that ignited a love for Jrock and visual kei, inspiring countless lookalikes and cosplayers. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who felt the pulse of his basslines and the intensity of his spirit.
It is unknown for the cause of his passing. All we know is that it was sudden and very hard to think and speak of. Please leave time to mourn, and we will find out someday.
Rest in peace, dear Reita. 🖤🎸🌟

It was very shocking to read about Reita’s passing. He is much younger than me and it seems something like this is impossible. I have been a huge The Gazette fan for a long time. I got to see their live performances in NYC 2 times. The first time was a meet and greet and I got to meet and shake hands with all the members. Reita was quiet and shy and the person I was with was wearing their tshirt and trying to get their attention. I moved on to Ruki so I don’t know what happened. But The Gazette live are a magical experience. Reitachan was an amazing bassist and icon. He hid behind his mask for many years and I requested for an unmasking many times. I feel horrible for asking. I will continue to support The Gazette with future endeavors.
I went to their concert a few years ago.
Their performance was amazing.
I’m not a big fan of them, but I always listen to their great music, so Reita’s death was very shocking and sad.
I still can’t believe it.
Reita, please rest in peace.
I also want the GazettE to last forever.
